The Homeopathic Consultations

Because Homeopathy treats the entire being holistically and not a set of disparate symptoms, the homeopathic consultations will be quite different from a medical appointment. Emphasis is placed on the mental and emotional symptoms and everything that sets you apart from everybody else. It is important that I get as much information as possible to help me choose the most fitting remedy for your condition. Besides the immediate physical symptoms that may have brought you to me, I am interested in the following:

  • how energetic are you at the moment?
  • how affected are you by your environment or emotional factors?
  • how does the weather affect you, and how are you sleeping?
  • what makes you feel worse and at what time of day
Besides describing the above factors, you should be able to recall major life events and significant occurrences, such as physical or emotional traumas, and try to place them in a time line alongside the onset of your major symptoms. Most of the time, a period of stress, a major surgery or prolonged drug use, among others, will trigger the onset of an illness that seems to appear out of the blue.
Diseases that run in the family will also be of interest to me, as they will indicate an inherited weakness, called miasm in Homeopathy. Questions about your lifestyle, eating habits and preferences, temperament, personality, sleep patterns and medical history help me form a complete picture of you. This picture will be matched to the symptoms of your illness in order to prescribe a particular type and strength of homeopathic medicine.

Please allow for up to two hours for your first homeopathic consultation. Follow-up consultation will last around 30 to 45 minutes.

Herring's Law of Cure

According to Constantine Hering, healing proceeds from above to below, from the interior to the exterior, and symptoms return in the reverse order of appearance.

What this means is that an eczema will disappear first from the face, then from the trunk and the upper extremities, before it disappears from the legs. Or a person with depression will feel emotionally better, while pains in the joints will be worse for a while. The well-chosen remedy will stimulate the organism to expel the disease from the internal organs to the joints or through the skin as an eczema or other discharges. An asthma patient may breathe better, while his previous eczema, suppressed by cortisone creams, reappears. At this crucial point, the patient needs to allow his organism to expel the disease without the intervention of ointments or antibiotics.

Another disconcerting event for the patient is the reappearance of old symptoms in the reverse order of their first appearance. In other words, the last symptoms to appear are the first ones to disappears, and old symptoms may return in reverse chronological order, which is something called disease replay.
